Light the way to energy savings

Lighting accounts for the single largest portion of electric bills for commercial users (about 30%). Lamp and ballast makers over the last decade have created products that can help cut lighting costs 30% to 60% while enhancing light quality, maintaining appropriate light levels in the workplace, improving work conditions and reducing environmental impacts.

Commercial users have many new options with energy efficient lighting. T8 and T5 lamps with electronic ballasts have led to a 40% to 50% improvement in lighting system efficiency. Compact fluorescents, or CFLs, are also a great energy solution to replace incandescent bulbs.

Light Emitting Diode lamps, or LEDs, are fast being built into marketable products. LEDs are used in a variety of applications including cove, walkway, sign, and handrail lighting. They are even being installed in larger light fixtures.
