Light the way to savings
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the average American household spends $1,400 each year on their electric bills, and up to 20% is consumed by electric lighting. By switching to Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs), households can cut lighting costs by more than half. CFLs provide approximately the same amount of visible light as regular incandescent bulbs, and Energy Star qualified bulbs last up to 10 times longer and generate 75% less heat.
Known for their twisted shape, these lamps are beginning to be manufactured in more traditional forms and smaller sizes, making them a green choice for numerous applications.
Disposing of these bulbs is not as simple as placing them in the trash. Recycling is key to keeping mercury contained in the bulb from being released. Click here to read more.
